Description

Design by Josh Henderson (student at Rose Bruford)
Produced in Barn Theatre (within Rose Bruford)
This show was set in London 1869, it was about women from all different backgrounds boxing in Victorian London.
For this role I worked with a partner to recreate a model box, we made a boxing ring style. there were multiple entry points for actors across the stage, for example we made a sliding door center stage. The back screen was used as a surface for projection and to create different layers in the scenes, for example, there was a house scene behind the screens and people also acting in front of them.
the set was composed of ramps, a rubber gym mat floor and shark tooth screens as well as trusses that stood either side of the stage.
For this show we also made props, this included punching bags that exploded with roses when hit, we needed to think of the mechanics that would make the effect.
