Description

The theme of my final piece is dyslexia and how someone who suffers with dyslexia views life in a form of black and white. This theme is important to me because I have dyslexia and I want to show how a dyslexic person feels when they find something really hard, but also how they have to put on a front to others. I have made a 3d book scene showing the emotional struggles a dyslexic person copes with when, dealing with processing writing/information. I also wanted to show their self-critical character as the judgmental standing figure.

I made two people out of newspaper because dyslexic people find reading the hardest thing to do, but it also shows that words get muddled up inside you. To show the inner feelings and outside emotions I wanted it to be the same person. The only difference is the body pose and colouring to show that the true feelings of the dyslexic person are black and white. With the dyslexic person it's all about the pain and the struggle through life whilst trying to hide that day to day, showing the duel sides of a dyslexic person's life and personality. I have combined model making, cut layered collage and photographic skills in my piece.
